Support the Women's Blues take on Cambridge in the fastest game on ice

The Oxford University Ice Hockey Club (OUIHC): Women’s Blues is hosting the 29th annual Varsity Match against the Cambridge Women’s Blues on 4th March 2012 at the Oxford Ice Rink. The Women’s Blues’ Varsity Match is at 4.30pm, and the Men’s 2nd Teams (Oxford Vikings vs. Cambridge Eskimos) will be playing on the same day at 6.30pm. We expect to draw a crowd of 500 fans between the two games.

The Oxford University Ice Hockey Club (OUIHC)

The OUIHC was established in 1885 and is the world’s second oldest ice hockey club. The Women’s Blues, a team within the OUIHC, was founded in 1981 and provides a unique opportunity for women in sport who come from around the world to study in Oxford. This year, there are 23 women studying at Oxford University or Oxford Brookes University on the roster. The team plays regular games in the British Universities Ice Hockey Association Division 3 and continues the tradition of challenging the Cambridge Women’s Light Blues in the Annual Varsity Match.

We are looking for monetary support to cover the costs of renting the ice for the Varsity Match.

We are also looking for sponsorship in kind: a Varsity Match tradition is to host the Cambridge Women’s team for a buffet-style meal after the match, and we would greatly appreciate donations of food.

We have an extremely flexible approach to sponsorship, and are more than willing to adjust sponsorship levels and benefits to suit you.

We reached our goal! Thank you to all our sponsors who helped us reach our goal of raising £250. We greatly appreciate your donation to our team, and your sponsorship has helped us cover some of the costs of the Varsity Match.

The Varsity Match was held this past Sunday, 4th March. Unfortunately, the Oxford Women's Blues lost 9-2 against Cambridge, but the girls played their hardest and could be proud of their performance at the end of the day. Look out for the team next year, when the girls try to win back the championship title.

Thanks very much again,
